Beer lovers can still find a bit of For the Love of Howell, a special brew concocted by Eternity Brewing to support the efforts of the Howell Main Street DDA.
The project got its roots last year, when brewery founders and owners Dayna and Mike Tran met with the DDA to brainstorm collaborative efforts.
“We saw an opportunity to work with them and with other businesses,” said Dayna Tran, noting the brew debuted in mid-March. “We wanted to do something simple, so we decided to brew a beer just for Howell, something...to help support all the events and the cool things they do.”
The American Pale Ale is described as a slightly fruity, light-bodied session ale with light caramel notes.
“We purposely picked a beer style we knew a lot of people like,” Tran said, noting ahtanum, centennial and citra hops give the brew a fruity character. “We knew the hops we used would be fun for people to taste.”
And she was right. Eternity Brewing, Cleary’s Pub and 2FogsPub are already sold out, but those who want to try it can head over to Main Street Winery or Diamonds Steak & Seafood, and $1 from each beer sold benefits Howell Main Street, Inc.’s community-led, non-profit organization, which supports efforts to create a vibrant, strong and economically viable downtown.
“This a very unique way of supporting the efforts of Howell Main Street, Inc.,” said Cathleen Edgerly, COO. “Eternity Brewing has been a good partner to our community, and by joining forces with these other quality establishments, we can spread the Howell love even further.”
At 2Fogs Pub, owner Joe Parker said he went through two kegs quickly.
"It's very crisp, and it's a good time of the year for something crisp," Parker said.
Inspired by the idea, Parker said beginning Monday he's starting a program of his own: The Main Street Martini. From each drink sold, he said, he'll donate $1 to the Howell Main Street DDA.
